Delta Dental of California today announced it is participating in OFFOR Health’s Series A funding round led by AXA Venture Partners, alongside SpringRock Ventures, LOUD Capital and MBX Capital, for a collective investment of $9 million.
OFFOR Health’s first service line is SmileMD, an innovative oral health offering that provides dental practices with turnkey in-office anesthesia and clinical staff who administer an operating room-quality experience. Without support for anesthesia and care coordination, dental offices are often forced to send patients to hospitals to receive care which can result in long-distance travel, increased cost and longer wait times to receive treatment. Over the past few years, SmileMD’s services have had a significant impact on patients’ lives, saving more than 45,000 months of wait time – which reduced progression of disease and unnecessary emergency room and urgent care visits – and over 600,000 miles in travel for patients.
“Delta Dental is committed to accelerating innovation that benefits its members, customers and providers, whether that’s bringing new and value-added products to the market or strategically investing in companies poised to transform care delivery,” said Delta Dental of California’s Executive Vice President and Chief Growth Officer, Kevin Jackson. “Through the service SmileMD offers to dental practices, our investment supports an emerging business that seeks to dramatically improve convenience and access to timely care for patients, minimize cost, and increase workplace productivity for employers.”
“We’ve been on this mission since 2014, but during the pandemic we saw a drastic spike in pediatric operation wait times,” said OFFOR Health CEO Saket Agrawal. “Tech-enabled delivery of care is an area we are seeing innovation in across the healthcare industry, but we believe that we are doing work that can truly have an impact. By saving time, money, and resources for patients, providers, and payers, we are seizing the chance to improve the quality of healthcare for people nationwide. Through our care delivery platform that combines clinical care, logistics, and technology, we’ve proven that our model works and that when you connect providers directly with patient need, you can achieve amazing results. We are excited to see the impact we can drive with our new service line offerings tackling issues from sleep to chronic disease from this new round of funding.”
