Available to Delta Dental network dentists, Virtual Consult is a secure and HIPAA-compliant video platform that allows real-time face-to-face interactions with patients. You can assess, screen and provide care instructions (including e-prescriptions to manage pain and reduce risk of infection) to patients covered by Delta Dental PPO™ and Delta Dental Premier®.

When you sign up for Virtual Consult, you don’t need to worry about having to learn the ins and outs of the system on your own. Virtual Consult offers the following features to make your experience as effortless as possible:

  • Access to detailed training and 24/7/365 tech support for the platform
  • Issue detail and applicable patient provided history sent directly to you in advance of appointments
  • Visit summaries, including any prescribed medications and follow-up recommendations, provided to the patient
  • Real-time eligibility checks so you can submit claims as usual

Delta Dental will accept claims for services delivered through teledentistry. Please submit claims as follows:
 

  • For your patient interaction, use the appropriate evaluation procedure code, such as D0140, D0170 or D0171.
  • On a separate line, also submit teledentistry code D9995 for real-time interactions (synchronous) and D9996 for text, photo or other non-live interactions (asynchronous) D0170, D0171.
     

Under Delta Dental policy, the fees for teledentistry (D9995 and D9996) are considered inclusive in overall patient management and are not billable to the patient. Standard dental policy will apply to the evaluation codes.
