Sarah Chavarria, Chief Executive Officer and President, Delta Dental of California

Sarah Chavarria is Chief Executive Officer and President for Delta Dental of California, an enterprise that encompasses 15 states and Washington, D.C. Sarah provides overall leadership and strategic direction for the organization, partnering with the Delta Dental Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors to deliver on the enterprise’s purpose to improve health by providing access to quality care.  

Sarah was appointed President of Delta Dental of California in August 2022, where she oversaw all aspects of Operations, Technology, Relationship and Business Development, Marketing, Communications and Experiences, and People.

Sarah joined Delta Dental in 2017 as Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer, and in March 2022 assumed the role of Chief Operations Officer in addition to her People responsibilities. She brings more than 25 years of expertise in the health care industry and has a strong track record of transforming organizations.

Prior to Delta Dental, Sarah was Chief People Officer at NantHealth. She served in a similar role at Optum360, a joint venture between Optum and Dignity Health, and was Vice President of Human Resources at Dignity Health. Sarah also held organizational transformation positions at Oracle, Medibuy and Levi Strauss.

Sarah earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at El Paso. She holds certifications in the General Electric Change Acceleration Process, the Myers & Briggs Foundation and the Conner Change Model.
