Delta Dental virtual dentistry updates

Delta Dental has a new partner to deliver virtual dental options to its members. Here’s what you need to know about this change.

Say hello to quip virtual care

quip virtual care will provide both video appointments and photo-based assessments for Delta Dental members beginning June 1. This means that members will be able to get both photo and video consultations in a single convenient platform.

What’s happening to the existing virtual dentistry services?

quip virtual care has acquired Toothpic, so members who have already signed up for Toothpic will be able to enjoy a familiar virtual dentistry experience with quip. Delta Dental – Virtual Consult will become unavailable in late summer 2023. Virtual Consult users who wish to continue using video virtual dentistry services can re-register with quip.

Will quip virtual care still offer the same services as previous virtual dentistry options?

Yes. Members will still be able to get photo-based assessments within 24 hours and schedule live video visits with in-network Delta Dental dentists, just like before.

Is the cost for patients to use these services changing?

No. Virtual dentistry appointments are still a covered benefit for Delta Dental PPO™ and Delta Dental Premier® members, and available at a low cost for members with an ineligible plan.

Where can I go to learn more about virtual dentistry?

You can visit the dentist virtual dentistry page on deltadentalins.com.

Do I need to register to see patients through quip virtual care?

Yes. You can sign up to see patients through the OralEye Dental Network, quip’s partner.
